Stepping Outside My Comfort Zone
Sometimes the lessons we teach through horses have a way of coming back around and challenging us, too.
Starting this new job at Northwest College is doing exactly that for me. It’s pushing me outside of my comfort zone, asking me to learn new things, take on new responsibilities, and continue growing in my own equine journey.
With horses, we talk a lot about building a solid foundation before asking for more. We work on communication, confidence, consistency, and learning how to handle pressure without losing the connection between horse and rider.
I’m realizing the same principles apply to us.
Preparing for a show, taking that big ride, accepting a new opportunity, or simply trying something that makes us a little uncomfortable, requires us to trust the foundation we’ve built and be willing to take the next step.
This new chapter at Northwest College is one of those steps for me. There will be challenges, plenty to learn, and probably some uncomfortable moments along the way. But that’s where growth happens.
I’m excited to see how this opportunity challenges me as a horsewoman, a trainer, a teacher, and a student of the horse.
Keep learning. Keep riding. Keep challenging yourself. You never know where the next step might lead.
