The Lovinggood Band program was established in 2006 and is a proud member of the Cobb County School District. In just a few short years, Lovinggood Middle School has grown to an enrollment of over 1,100 students and has consistently made AYP. Lovinggood Middle School is located in Powder Springs, Georgia just West of Kennesaw Mountain and the Marietta Square. The Lovinggood band currently has over

350 students consisting of 150 beginner band students and 200 seventh and eighth grade band members. All beginner students start in the 6th grade and participate in band class everyday through 7th and 8th grade. In beginning band, students are placed into one of four classes - Trumpets and French Horns, Flutes and Clarinets, Low Brass, and Saxes-double reeds and percussion. All brass are taught by one full time director along with part time clinician help. Likewise, woodwinds are taught by a full time director along with a part time flute specialist and percussion specialist. This is to ensure that classes are broken down into homogeneous classes as often as possible to provide the most efficient and effective instruction. Students are taught all aspects of fundamentals and pedagogy pertaining to their instrument, culminating in one end of the year concert. Students in 7th and 8th grade bands are divided into two ability based bands for each grade level. Instruction during the 7th and 8th grade years is given during daily, divided sectionals of woodwinds/percussion and brass where they are taught instrument fundamentals, scales, rhythms, and reading commensurate with their grade and ability level. Every student in the 7th and 8th grade performs on Winter and Springs Concerts and LGPE. In addition to class activities, several students elect to participate in GMEA sanctioned events such as Solo and Ensemble and District and State Honor Bands. Since opening in 2006, the Lovinggood Band has consistently received Superior ratings at LGPE, had over 80 students selected to the District XII Honor and Clinic Bands, had over 35 students sent to round two of the GMEA All-State auditions, and has had students selected to the GMEA Middle School All-State Band every year since 2007. The Lovinggood Middle School Band is a proud feeder of the Hillgrove High School Bands. Lovinggood directors work in conjunction with the Hillgrove directors in all aspects of each others program, including Marching Band, curriculum alignment and recruitment.

They learned about being a studio musician and what all is involved in recording the soundtracks that go along with the movies we all love to watch. In the end they got to record a portion of the music from Disney's Tarzan and set it to the movie.

Please read the update on Adyson. The transplant & prayers are working, but he still needs our help! Adyson continues to fight hard and is in need of more white blood cell transfusions. URGENT! URGENT!
We are in need of blood donors ASAP! Adyson's is in desperate need of blood. Please read below. You must meet ALL requirments! If you meet ALL requirements, please shoot us a message or email to [email protected] or [email protected]!!

-Must be O+ type
-Must be Red Cross Screened
-Must be willing to travel to Charlotte ASAP (Hotel will be arranged if needed)
-Must be able/willing to recieve shot that will boost white cell count
-Must NOT have traveled outside the US in the past 4 weeks

Please make sure you fit ALL requirements. I know so many want to help, but it is crtical that ALL 5 requirements are met.
