Dear Families,
As we celebrate Mother’s Day, I want to take a moment to recognize and thank all the wonderful moms, grandmothers, and mother figures who support and encourage their young pianists and pianists every single day. I also want to thank and recognize the support of my adult students' families.
From driving to lessons and listening to practice sessions, to celebrating every new song and showing up with smiles and patience, your role in your child’s musical journey is truly invaluable. I see your care and commitment reflected in your children’s progress, and I’m so grateful to be part of that journey with you.
Wishing you a beautiful Mother’s Day filled with love, joy, and maybe even a little live music at home!
With appreciation,

Many parents have been asking me what piano they should buy for their child to begin piano lessons. There are several options to choose from.
A well-tuned good quality acoustic piano is always a great choice if it fits the family's space and budget. It is important to consider that these pianos will need to be tuned at least once a year which will require additional expenses.
The next best option is a digital piano and many families choose it. Digital pianos cost much less, take less space and require no additional maintenance. They are also easy to buy and easy to sell. You can buy a new digital piano from a music store, online from Amazon or an used one from Facebook Marketplace, etc. I would look for a Yamaha or Casio digital piano with 88 weighted keys. I could recommend certain models if you contact me.
Some families ask if their child can start piano lessons on a keyboard. Yes, this is an option but is not recommended for more than a few months, up to a year before upgrading to a digital piano. This is because keyboards are smaller and the students quickly outgrow them. Another reason is that most keyboards do not have weighted keys so students cannot develop finger strength and proper piano technique.
