WISE COUNTY SCHOOLS DOES IT AGAIN!

We are incredibly proud to announce that Wise County Public Schools has once again finished 3rd in the Commonwealth of Virginia in Standards of Learning performance among all 131 school divisions!

This marks our FOURTH consecutive year finishing 3rd in Virginia and our 11TH CONSECUTIVE YEAR as a Top 10 school division in the Commonwealth.

Eleven consecutive years.

Students have entered kindergarten and graduated from high school during that span. Standards have changed. Assessments have changed. Expectations have increased.

And through it all, Wise County Schools has remained among the very best school divisions in Virginia.

That doesn't happen by accident.

It happens because of outstanding students, dedicated teachers, strong school leadership, committed employees, supportive families, and a community that believes in its schools.

Being in the Top 10 once is an accomplishment.

Staying there for 11 consecutive years says something about who we are.

Finishing 3rd in Virginia for four consecutive years says something about the standard our students and employees have established.

We are proud of this accomplishment. We are proud of our people. And we are especially proud of our students.

Our Tradition of Excellence continues.

We are going to join all of our friends around the county this Thursday, August 27th, by honoring the one and only Dolly Parton. We will celebrate the beautiful message behind her beloved song, Coat of Many Colors. 🌈✨

What a legacy she leaves and what a voice for the people of Southwest Virginia. Her Imagination Library serves more than 67,000 kids across Virginia as she made sure children from birth to age five had access to high quality literature within their homes. 📖

Dolly’s story reminds us that it isn’t what we have that makes us special—it’s the love, kindness, creativity, and joy we share with others. She dreamed big her entire life and we can each carry on her legacy by doing the same. 🦋💜💙💚💛🩷

We are so thankful to Skip and the entire team at Pound IGA for partnering with Lunchbox276 for the upcoming school year!

Skip and his team have already been instrumental in helping us navigate our ordering process and making sure we have what we need to keep our shelves stocked and our weekend food bags moving out the door each week.

But beyond the logistics, it’s the kindness, patience, and willingness to help that have meant so much to us. Skip has truly gone above and beyond, and we can’t thank him enough for the support he has shown Lunchbox276 and the students we serve.

We are incredibly grateful to have local businesses like Pound IGA standing beside us as we continue to grow. ❤️

WCPS will be offering FREE developmental and speech screenings Friday, August 28th. These screenings are open to preschool children ages 2.5 - 5 years of age, who live in Wise County, and are not yet attending kindergarten.
