Pound Ridge Community Church Play School Where learning and play go hand in hand We are committed to the belief that children learn by doing.

Founded in 1963, our Play School program consists of carefully selected and integrated activities designed to encourage growth in the social, emotional, creative, physical and cognitive development of young children. Our objectives are to help children build self confidence, meet new friends and develop positive feelings towards the world around them. At Play School children participate in a wide

variety of activities including music, art, movement, storytelling, puzzles, blocks, dramatic play and more. Our teacher to student ratio offers the opportunity for individual attention. Parents are encouraged to share in our classroom activities.

We had gorgeous weather for our art exhibit this year! We had to alter our typical art show which traditionally has been indoors and in the evening with a display that worked under our Covid protocols, and could be displayed outdoors. We loved the show so much! Displaying it outside was so beautiful. The children's work looked amazing! "Good Shape" the name of our show, featured artists who used distinct shapes in their artwork. The children were inspired by Wassily Kandinsky (circles), Stanley Whitney (squares), Paul Klee (triangles), Yayoi Kusama (circles) and Jim Dine (hearts).

The 3's class got treated to a gorgeous hike on the Bedford Riding Lanes with Executive Director Lindsay Cain Hearon. We're so lucky that Lindsay is also a Play School mom! The trails are for horses and for hiking! Beautiful trails!!!
