He rose from humble beginnings to become one of the nation's most respected journalists. He also helped Abraham Lincoln gain office and ran for President of the United States against Ulysses Grant.

Mark your calendars! The 22nd Horace Greeley Writers' Symposium will happen on Saturday, October 19 at the East Poultney Baptist Church.
This year’s keynote speaker, Northeast Kingdom resident Melanie Finn is author of four novels including The Gloaming, a New York Times Notable Book of the Year and The Hare, winner of the Vermont Book Award in 2022. She will be giving a workshop on applying the traditional three act screenplay structure to short and long-form fiction to create and sustain plot momentum and character development. Please bring either a short piece of your own fiction or outline of your novel. 100% of fees and book sales will be donated to http://www.natronhealthcare.org.

Writers' Symposium will take place next Saturday, October 15th, 2022 at the United Baptist Church on the beautiful East Poultney Green.

This year's keynote speaker is novelist and writing coach John DeDakis is a former editor on CNN's The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer. He is the author of five mystery-suspense novels.
