Impact Aid Survey - Why does it matter to Pearson?

Impact Aid is federal money that replaces some of the local taxes that federal property can't pay. Some schools also qualify for discretionary construction fund based on the Impact Aid information. It takes about 5 minutes per student in your Skyward account. Please fill out even if you don't think your home/work place qualify us for funding. Thank you.

⚖️ The verdict is in: Mr. Toad is guilty!

Students in Ms. Boyd’s third grade class at Hilder Pearson Elementary finished The Wind in the Willows feeling like Mr. Toad’s story wasn’t quite over.

So they put him back on trial.

For their culminating book project, students became lawyers, witnesses, jurors and court reporters. They used evidence from the story, presented testimony, asked questions and considered whether Mr. Toad had learned from his mistakes. Principal Garrison served as judge, and Superintendent Dr. Rachel Davenport joined the class to hear testimony.

The jury found Mr. Toad guilty but agreed he had shown remorse. Judge Garrison determined that Mr. Toad would not return to jail. Instead, he was placed on parole for lessons learned, with the judge noting that Mr. Toad had grown to show all of the attributes of Pearson PRIDE: Positive, Respectful, Integrity, Dependable, and Engaged.

Reading comprehension, evidence, public speaking, critical thinking and empathy, all in one pretty impressive third grade lesson.
