Children’s Garden Montessori School of Poulsbo has been offering high quality education to children and families in the North Kitsap area for 25 years. Our program is designed for children ages 2½ - 6 to thrive and grow to their fullest while gaining intellectual, physical, social, and emotional skills for success in life. Director and teacher Kristen Sundquist earned a degree in elementary education and Montessori credentials from Seattle University. Children love learning here. Daily chores teach children responsibility, not just doing something because you want to. I think this is a great lesson for a four (or five or six) year old and if these chores become habits and a seamless part of everyday life then it will benefit everyone. Exactly 30 years ago I welcomed my first students to my newly painted and furnished school. We started with a small group in the front rooms of my house, and three years later moved to our new building. I spent many days building shelves, tables and searching for the perfect materials for the classroom. And I still remember those first children and how they persisted and learned and played. It is a delight and my love working with children.
