Our Pre-K friends had the sweetest fall adventure! 🍎🎃

Today, our little explorers headed out for a fun-filled day of apple picking! They loved the hayride, walking through the orchard, choosing their very own apples, meeting and feeding some farm animals, and experiencing the sights, sounds, and smells of fall firsthand. They had a yummy apple c***r donut snack, and in addition to their apples, each child also got to pick out a small pumpkin to bring home!

Field trips like this give our children the opportunity to learn beyond the classroom, make memories with their friends and teachers, and experience the joy of discovering something new together.

A beautiful fall day filled with apples, pumpkins, laughter, and lots of happy little faces! 🍎🍂🎃

After the rain comes the sunshine, and we’re here for more fall days just like this! Nothing beats a little sunshine, fresh air, and a toddler’s big, beautiful smile! This little one is soaking up the warm rays, enjoying the fresh air, and celebrating the simple joys of being outside. ☀️🌸🌿

There’s something so special about watching children experience the world with so much excitement and wonder. From the sunshine on her face to the happiness in her little “YAY!”, it’s a sweet reminder that even after the rain, brighter days are always ahead. 🌈💛

Hispanic Heritage Month is a wonderful opportunity to help our children learn about different cultures, appreciate what makes each of us unique, and recognize the beauty of our diverse community. Through stories, music, art, food, and meaningful conversations, we encourage our little learners to embrace diversity, show kindness, and celebrate one another.

Today, Community Family Development was proud to join community leaders, partners, and changemakers at the Economic Justice & Mobility Summit: Building Pathways from Survival to Thriving, hosted by the Poughkeepsie Children's Cabinet and DAY ONE Early Learning Community at Scenic Hudson’s Northside Hub.

The conversations reinforced something we see every day: economic mobility and access to quality childcare are deeply connected. Families need more than opportunities for employment—they need affordable, reliable childcare, stable housing, transportation, and pathways to careers that allow them to truly thrive.

We appreciated the opportunity to explore barriers, identify solutions, and think collectively about what it will take to build stronger pathways for individuals and families throughout our community.

At CFD, we’re proud to be part of this work because when families have the resources and support they need to succeed, children, families, and our entire community benefit.

Moments like this may look simple, but they are packed with learning! Sensory exploration encourages curiosity, builds vocabulary, supports early science skills, and gives children the opportunity to discover the world around them at their own pace.
