Red Foxes at the New York Emmys!🏆

Congratulations to Emma Gaecklein ‘26, Carter McDavitt ‘26, and Emma K. Stuber ‘26, who received an Emmy nomination from the New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for Still Waters, their environmental justice documentary on the recurrence of Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) in the Wallkill River.

The trio produced the piece while they were students in Professor Jeffrey Basinger’s [also pictured] Documentary Production class last year, working with and featuring interviews of activists within the Wallkill River Watershed Alliance.

We celebrate these impactful, talented, community-oriented storytellers on their well-deserved recognition!

We recently celebrated the launch of the Community Impact Fund, a student-led philanthropic initiative that gives Red Foxes hands-on experience raising funds and directing support to nonprofit organizations throughout the Hudson Valley! ❤️🤝

At the heart of the Fund is an experiential learning model that asks students to make real decisions with real community impact. Through two School of Management courses, students take the lead on researching local needs, evaluating nonprofit organizations, and developing criteria for giving, ultimately helping determine how they can make a difference.

The initiative is designed not only to deepen students’ understanding of nonprofit leadership and philanthropy, but also to help them consider what it means to be active members of the communities they are part of.

As a live retail laboratory, MPorium allows students across all class levels and areas of study to delve into the nuances required for running and maintaining a fashion enterprise, including the challenges and responsibilities of operating a fully functional retail store and e-commerce website!

Each semester, their Steel Plant storefront is completely transformed into a new theme, and on Tuesday, Sept. 29, we celebrated the grand (re)opening of Frankie’s Diner at MPorium, an homage to diner culture of the Northeast.
