It's the first day of school and Assistant Principal, Victoria Curry, of Kreiger School in the Poughkeepsie City School District, has her Library Card!

Victoria reads to her students everyday before (and sometimes after) school as she strongly believes in the importance of early literacy and its ties to a student's success. She loves the Poughkeepsie Public Library District for its children's libraries and its programs that promote literacy, creativity and learning.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!! Next week starts our Spring Buy One, Get One Free BOOK FAIR!!! It starts Monday, June 5 and goes all week...as long as we have volunteers to "work." You don't need any special skills. We break the day into 2-hour shifts (8-10, 10-12,12-2) but any time you can provide is greatly appreciated. If we do not have coverage, we cannot open. Happy Sunday, everyone! Last week was Teacher Appreciation week.We "postponed" it a week because of NYS assessment tests.

Each year, Krieger PTA hosts a breakfast for our teachers (and staff). We are asking parents/guardians to bring in (or send in with your children) breakfast items TOMORROW morning, 5/8/2017. We already have the coffee!!!, but items like yogurt, hard boiled eggs, pastry, bagels and cream cheese, fruit, juice, etc. are always appreciated.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our CSEA union brother, Sidney Culver. Sid was an ardent union activist who fought tirelessly for his brothers and sisters in the Poughkeepsie School District Unit. Through even the toughest times this bargaining unit faced over the past few years, Sid never wavered in his activism. We will miss him greatly.

Our own Mrs. O. Our thoughts are with her and her family as they deal with this terrible tragedy.
