We’re also thrilled to share that we’ve just completed our school-wide reading benchmark assessment, and the results are amazing! 🎉 From our kindergarteners surpassing the end-of-year benchmark 📖👏 to scholars making multiple levels of growth, and even a community slime-making celebration in second grade 🧪✨—joy is alive, and excellence is thriving at LWP! 🚀💡

🌊 Riding the Wave of Kindness at Little Water Prep! 🌊

This February, Little Water Prep is kicking off our Anti-Bullying Wave of Kindness Initiative—a month-long movement to promote kindness, empathy, and connection among our scholars and staff! 💙

Here’s what to expect:

✨ Kindness Challenges: Daily and weekly kindness activities to inspire students to spread positivity within our school community.

✨ Affirmation Walls: A special space where scholars can write and share uplifting messages for their classmates and teachers.

✨ Classroom Circles: Guided discussions and activities to help scholars understand the importance of empathy, inclusion, and standing up against bullying.

✨ Kindness Projects: Collaborative, grade-level projects where students team up to make a difference—whether it’s writing thank-you notes, creating art, or finding ways to brighten someone’s day.

✨ Wave of Kindness Pep Rally: A schoolwide celebration to honor our scholars’ efforts and showcase how small acts of kindness can create big waves of change! 🌊

This initiative is more than just a month of activities—it’s about cultivating a culture where kindness becomes second nature. By working together, we’re empowering our scholars to grow into thoughtful, compassionate leaders who lift each other up.

Shoutout to our incredible school counselor, Ms. Henry, who we absolutely adore! 💙 Today, our amazing Girls Club had the opportunity to visit Nubian Directions, where they explored different pathways to turn their passions into careers. From learning about new opportunities to bonding as a group, it was a day full of inspiration and empowerment!

Our Girls Club is all about fostering sisterhood, confidence, and exploration for our young scholars. Through activities, mentorship, and experiences like this, we aim to support them in dreaming big and navigating their unique journeys with courage and joy.

🌟 This Week at Little Water Prep 🌟

Our scholars have been hard at work and making incredible progress across all grades! Here’s a peek into what’s been happening in our classrooms this week:

🧮 Kindergarten
Our youngest learners are becoming hands-on mathematicians! They’ve been playing games to build number sense and confidence in counting. During small group reading, they’ve also been practicing phonics, decoding, and partner reading—becoming stronger, more confident readers every day!

✍️ Grade 1
First-grade scholars are writing how-to books and bringing their writing to life with real-world demonstrations! Whether crafting step-by-step instructions or adding details, small group rotations ensure that every scholar gets the individual support they need to shine.

📚 Grades 2 & 3
Our second- and third-grade scholars are sharpening their critical thinking and reading skills! This week, they’ve been focused on crafting strong main ideas in both fiction and nonfiction texts, building a solid foundation for their writing and comprehension skills.
