Last week on October 8, FFA and P2 hosted a free community pancake dinner featuring pancakes made by students and staff and student-made maple syrup. They would like to thank all of the community members who attended the event and all of the wonderful P2 and FFA volunteers who made it a success. They greatly appreciate the support. 🥞🍁

On Friday, October 2, the Potsdam Varsity & Modified Swim Teams hosted St. Lawrence Central for a special Pink vs. Teal Swim Meet, raising awareness for breast and ovarian cancer. Together, the teams raised nearly $500 for the Gouverneur Breast and Ovarian Cancer Fund, in memory of PCS teacher Lynn Tharrett.

The support continued on Saturday, October 3, as members of the AAKingston community, along with family and friends, participated in the 25th Annual Gouverneur Breast and Ovarian Cancer Fund event. AAK staff and students raised an additional $452 through bracelet sales and a Pink Out Day.

Together, our school communities raised nearly $1,000 in support of an important cause and in memory of someone who meant so much to our school community. 💗🩵

🦌 We had some unexpected visitors on campus!

On September 22, some of Mrs. Garland’s Photography students were in the right place at the right time to capture photos of a deer family visiting our front lawn.

📸 These students put their photography skills to work and captured some beautiful shots of our newest “students.” We’re not sure if they’re ready to enroll, but they certainly made a memorable visit!

Friday afternoon, our juniors and seniors, along with students from Colton-Pierrepont CSD and Canton CSD, gathered in the high school auditorium for SUNY’s “Roadshow” presentation.

Representatives from several local community colleges and SUNY campuses—including Clinton Community College, Jefferson Community College, North Country Community College, SUNY Plattsburgh, SUNY Potsdam and SUNY Canton—shared information about their respective schools before providing an overview of the SUNY system.

The presentation covered a variety of topics to help students begin thinking about their next steps after high school, including “likely” versus “reach” programs, the costs associated with different institutions, application fees and the importance of visiting campuses before making a final decision.

The goal of the presentation was to help students begin visualizing how their own futures might align with the many educational opportunities available throughout New York State.

Seniors interested in applying to a SUNY school were also encouraged to take advantage of SUNY’s free application period, running from October 19 through November 2.

Thank you to all of the college representatives who took the time to meet with our students and help them begin planning for life after high school!
