Excited to share that Michael Juriga will be joining GE Aerospace this summer as a Manufacturing Engineering Intern in St. George, Utah! ✈️
Michael is currently a sophomore studying Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering at Clarkson University. He is especially grateful to the Clarkson Honors Program, as well as his friends, family, and mentors, for their continued support throughout this journey.
At Clarkson, Michael is also a member of the men’s rugby team, and in his free time he enjoys lifting and skiing.

Clarkson Faculty Featured in PFAS Detection Innovation
Clarkson University’s Dr. Silvana Andreescu, the Professor & Chair of Chemistry & Biomolecular Science / Egon Matijevic Endowed, is featured in The Analytical Scientist for her work advancing portable sensors to detect PFAS “forever chemicals.”

Her research focuses on developing rapid, field-deployable technologies that can identify contamination in real time, helping communities monitor water quality more quickly and effectively.

Innovations like these are helping move PFAS detection beyond the laboratory and closer to practical solutions for protecting public health and the environment.

Clarkson undergraduate researcher Robert Davis is making an impact on the global engineering stage. The Honors mechanical engineering student earned two 2nd-place awards at the ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress & Exposition (IMECE) 2025 in Memphis, Tennessee, for his innovative research on using mechanical force to understand chemical reaction pathways in materials.
Working in Professor Xiaocun Lu’s PhotoMeChem research group, Robert’s interdisciplinary work bridges mechanical engineering and chemistry, advancing new approaches for molecular sensing and materials development. Supported by the National Science Foundation and Clarkson’s Honors Educational Enhancement Scholarship, his achievement highlights the strength of undergraduate research at Clarkson.Congratulations, Robert, on representing Clarkson University with excellence on the international stage! ⚙️💚
