What's a Pre-Health student doing this summer?!
Here is Mia, a rising junior Biomolecular Science major on the pre-pharmacy track. This summer, she is working as an undergraduate research assistant in the Center for Air and Aquatic Engineering and Sciences (CAARES) laboratory here at Clarkson. Their research is based around identifying and quantifying per/polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS compounds. These are detected in the air, water and soil samples from the Great Lakes Region.
Mia says " My job includes sample preparation, laboratory glassware cleaning and running fish extracts. This position has taught me more analytical technical that will prove helpful for my future endeavors, but also given me a sense of community and sense of family. I highly recommend a lab position to anyone pursuing a pre-health degree."
