A big congratulations to Haden Wade ’26, Jack Mangin ’25, Brayden Serwer ’25, and Hollis Jenkins ’26 on completing Plebe Summer at the U.S. Naval Academy! ⚓️

We’re so proud to see these four Bulldogs reach this milestone and begin this exciting next chapter. We know their families and the entire Bullis community are cheering them on as they continue their journey at the USNA.

Today, we remember Col. Lawrence H. Bullis ’54—teacher, headmaster, soldier, and a member of the Bullis family whose leadership helped shape the school we know today.

After serving his country as an Army officer and paratrooper, Col. Bullis returned to Bullis in 1965, where he taught, coached, led, and ultimately served as Headmaster from 1980 to 1991. He approached every role with humility, a deep sense of responsibility, and an unwavering belief in the school’s mission. His steady leadership helped guide Bullis through an important period in its history and strengthened the foundation on which generations of students, faculty, and families have built.

We are grateful for his decades of service and for the enduring example of leadership, dedication, and quiet stewardship that he leaves behind.

Our heartfelt condolences are with the entire Bullis family and all who knew and loved Col. Bullis. His legacy will remain a lasting part of Bullis School.

We are working closely with the Bullis family to plan a memorial in celebration of Col. Bullis' life, and we will share additional information with our community as those arrangements are made.

Our community continues to mourn the heartbreaking loss of Evan Greenleigh ’25, a beloved member of the Class of 2025 whose kindness, thoughtfulness, and genuine care for others left a lasting impact on students, faculty, staff, alumni, and families.

In recognition of Evan's impact on our school and his special connection to the tennis program, we are honored to share that the renovated tennis terrace will be dedicated in his memory as the Evan Greenleigh Tennis Terrace. This space will serve as a lasting place of remembrance and a gathering place where generations of Bulldogs can come together to support our teams, celebrate community, and reflect on the values Evan embodied.

From the Bullis court to Duke and the WNBA, Monique “Mo” Currie ’01 continues to make history. The two-time Bullis Athletics Hall of Famer was recently inducted into the Washington Mystics Hall of Fame, adding another incredible achievement to her legendary basketball journey.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of former Bullis teacher, coach, and Hall of Fame member Dean Sclavounos.

Dean dedicated much of his life to educating, mentoring, and coaching Bullis students, leaving a lasting impact on generations of Bulldogs. A gifted athlete, passionate coach, and beloved teacher, he was known for his unwavering encouragement, love of sports, and commitment to helping young people grow both on and off the field.

His legacy lives on through the countless students, athletes, colleagues, and friends whose lives he touched throughout his years at Bullis.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Ann, Dino, Kelli, and the entire Sclavounos family.

A Celebration of Dean's Life will be held at Bullis School this Saturday, June 13.
