McLean School K-12 COLLEGE PREPARATORY SCHOOL SUPPORTING BRIGHT STUDENTS’ INDIVIDUAL STRENGTHS AND CHALLENGES. We believe schools should teach the way kids learn.

McLean School is an independent, co-educational, K-12 day school serving bright, college-bound students from Maryland, Washington, and Virginia. Our Abilities Model® focuses on a child’s strengths and builds intellectual curiosity, mastery, resilience, and self-esteem, rather than defining them by what they can't do. It’s a better way of doing education that serves all students well, and especially bright students who struggle in a traditional classroom setting.

Student leadership goes beyond the classroom 🚌

McLean’s Bus Ambassadors for Safety & Respect program launched this week! These Middle and Upper School student leaders practice listening, empathy, and calm leadership to help make the ride feel safe and welcoming for everyone.

By supporting peers, modeling respectful behavior, and knowing when to ask adults for help, our ambassadors are putting care for their community into action!

Still thinking about this past weekend’s Language Justice Summit! 💬

McLean School welcomed educators for a day of learning together and moving beyond translation to build belonging in the language classroom.

Congratulations to Ms. Chicherio () on another wonderful Summit! And a huge thank you to our speakers - Benjamin Tinsley, Dr. Xiomara Rivera Pagán, Ph.D., Dr. Kerri Ray Valencia, Ed.D., Traci Dougherty, and Ms. Chicherio - for sharing their expertise.

To everyone who joined us, we loved having you! Stay tuned for next year!
