In the fall of 1989, David Brown, newly graduated with a B.S. from Cornell University, began his first full-time job as a math teacher at St. Andrew’s. Thirty-seven years later, after having filled countless roles at the school in the intervening years, he serves as Associate Head of School, a position he has filled for more than a decade. This past spring, the man who works behind the scenes to ensure that everything at the school runs smoothly, found himself thrust into the spotlight with the establishment of the David Brown Endowment. This endowed fund, created by an anonymous alumni family, will support faculty compensation and growth.
"We are so happy to honor David Brown's decades of service and leadership at St. Andrew's,” the family said. “He is a clear and supportive teacher, a wise and effective administrator, and a kind and approachable mentor for his students and colleagues. Mr. Brown's thoughtfulness, dedication, and humor for the past 37 years have made St. Andrew's a wonderful place to teach, learn, and grow."
