🚀 Welcome to the Second Grade Space Museum! 🌎✨

After an interdisciplinary inquiry into our solar system, our second graders transformed their learning into a museum filled with discovery, creativity, and wonder.

Serving as docents, students proudly guided visitors through their exhibits, sharing their writing, planetary models, sculptures, displays, and solar system-inspired artwork. Each creation reflected their curiosity, growing knowledge, and unique perspective on the wonders of space.

At Harbor, learning comes to life when children have the opportunity to explore, create, make connections, and share what they know with others. What an out-of-this-world way to celebrate their learning! 🪐

A morning of learning, creating, exploring, and having fun! ⚓️✨

Throughout the year, Harbor invites parents and caregivers to join the first hour of their child’s day for Open Classrooms, and this morning was full of discovery!

From Morning Meeting to design challenges and science experiments, our grownups jumped right in, creating sculptures, building planetary models, making telephones, playing games, and solving problems together.

It was an immersive opportunity to experience what makes learning at Harbor so special: It’s intentional, interdisciplinary, child-centered, hands-on, and joyful! 💙

Thank you to all the grownups who spent the morning learning alongside us. We loved having you here!

Preschool students traveled to Imagination Stage to see Chicka Chicka Boom Boom: The Musical! Before the show, children had some fun exploring set pieces and pretending they were in a play too! Thank you to the wonderful producers and performers Imagination Stage for a wonderful morning!

This week, Kindergarten engineers had a special visit from our third-grade friends, who taught us how to build a bridge! After listening to the story “Twenty One Elephants and Still Standing”, children worked together to design and create a sturdy bridge for a toy elephant using tape and popsicle sticks. 🌉🐘🐘🐘

This experience aligned perfectly with 3rd grade’s interdisciplinary theme “Young Engineers” and Kindergarten’s theme, “Helping Through Making”, and encouraged students to collaborate, solve problems, test ideas, and make changes as engineers do. They learned that working together helps us accomplish goals that may be difficult to do on our own!

A little throwback, a little friendship, and a whole lot of heart. 💙

Friendship bracelets are having their moment at Harbor! Teachers introduced students to this classic sign of friendship, and now bracelet-making has become an ongoing classroom pastime. Students are creating colorful bracelets to gift to their classmates, one thoughtful gesture at a time.

Because at Harbor, learning isn’t just about what we know. It’s also about how we connect, care for one another, and build a community where everyone feels they belong. 🫶⛵️

A beautiful day for PLAY. ☀️

So much space to run, climb, imagine, create, explore, activate the senses, and move those muscles! At Harbor, our students have two recess periods every day because we know that time to play and move helps children return to the classroom ready to learn, focus, collaborate, and create.

Sometimes the best learning happens when we’re outside the classroom. 💙🧡
