Popular programs include the CNA Certified Nursing Assistant Training, Phlebotomy, Welding Certification, CDL Commercial Truck Driver’s License, Emergency Medical Technical, Firefighter Training, First Aid/CPR, Flagging, continuing education for trades, apprenticeships, and more. Customized Training classes may be built to accommodate group, employer, and individual needs on a class by class basis. Popular customized training options include business and professional development, quality processes, workplace safety, First Aid/CPR, professional technical skills, and one-on-one assistance. Instructors are experts in their field and offer hands-on, practical information. The course catalog is published each fall, spring, and summer and is mailed to Kootenai County residents. Five weeks could put you on the road to a new career.

North Idaho College’s Commercial Driver’s License training is designed to prepare you to take your CDL skills exam, earn your license and start pursuing work as a professional truck driver — all in just a few weeks.

Commercial drivers are in high demand. There are 7,213 job vacancies for truck drivers per day, and starting pay in Idaho typically ranges from $48,000 to $52,000 a year, according to StartCDL.com.

NIC Workforce Training Center’s Aircraft Mechanic apprenticeship prepares students to pursue FAA Airframe and Powerplant mechanic certification while gaining valuable experience on the job.

The three-year program begins with aviation maintenance fundamentals before moving into aircraft structures, systems and engines. Apprentices complete classroom and lab instruction while working full time with a qualified employer — earning while they learn.

These new courses give Silver Valley residents a chance to explore these trade skills close to home with experienced instructor Cory North.
