'Twas the night before school, and all through the house,
Not a backpack was rustling, as still as a mouse.
The school clothes were hung in the closet with care, In hopes that the morning would find them all there.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of good friends danced round in their heads;
With new shoes lined up, crisp and clean by the door,
And textbooks to open and worlds to explore.
At Cornerstone Christian, the classrooms were set,
With whiteboards all shiny, no chalk dust as yet.
The teachers had prayed over every small chair,
To ask for God’s grace and His guidance and care.
With a heart full of hope and a backpack in hand,
Ready to learn and to make a firm stand,
To build on the Rock, where the foundation’s laid,
In every step forward, in every prayer made.
So rest now, sweet scholars, the sunrise is near,
For a brilliant, bright start to a wonderful year.
And I heard them proclaim as the night turned to day: "Welcome to Cornerstone—let’s learn, praise, and play!"
