For many kiddos this is the last summer before they start kindergarten. Let this be a summer of exploration, silliness and lots of outdoor activity. Your child doesn't need to drill academics. True kindergarten readiness skills to work on: kindness, asking for help, willingness to try new or difficult things. This summer challenge yourself to let you kids try new things, struggle and learn persistence, fail and learn resilience. They will surprise you with their confidence and competence by the end of the summer. Then they will truly be ready for kindergarten.

So grateful for the skill and professional of Hutchins Construction. They did a stellar job rebuilding our deck, pergola and fence after the storm damage. I will be spending time this weekend getting our outdoor space back in order and ready for the beautiful weather❤️

My heart is so full of gratitude for all of you that shared your stories and contacted legislators this legislative session. You stories made a difference and changed minds and votes. Yesterday the bill to fund Medicaid based home and community based services passed a floor vote and headed to Governor Little's desk. At least for this fiscal year, these services are funded which allows us and many amazing clinicians, speech, occupational and physical therapists to continue to serve individuals with disabilities. Thank you again, your love and resilience are inspiring to us all.

I am very grateful for the hard working utility crews today. They have a difficult job and often unsung until an emergency. Avista crews are working to clean up downed lines that have prevented us from enjoying our play yard. The kids will be so excited on Monday when they can go into one of their favorite places for exploration.

Love this! Please consider adding one of these to your weekly routine. I cannot stress enough how you are your child's first and best teacher. Bless yourself with time with your children unencumbered with competition for your or their attention. I promise these will be the times that your child will remember when they are adults.
