🎤 A MASSIVE THANK YOU to Bryn for being the voice of our daily announcements for the second year in a row!

Now an 8th grader, Bryn continues to be a wonderful example for her peers and has been such an asset to have in our office. Throughout August, she kept everyone informed of upcoming events, birthdays, lunch menus, and celebrated our athletic teams!

Bryn is a true leader at North Posey Jr. High. In addition to helping with our daily announcements, she continues to stay involved in volleyball, basketball, and student council.

We are so thankful for the time, effort, and positive attitude Bryn brings to our school each day. Thank you for all you do, Bryn! We are so proud of you! ❤️🖤

📸 Seeing the School in a Whole New Way! 👀

The yearbook students are kicking off their photography unit by putting their observation skills to the test! Their challenge? Look closely at the everyday objects and details around school and find letters hiding in plain sight to spell their names.

From lockers and stair rails to signs, shadows, and all the little details we usually overlook, students are learning that great photography is all about seeing things differently. 🔍📷

Who knew the school was full of letters just waiting to be discovered? ✨

🎨 7th Grade Art: Inspired by Dean Russo! 🐾

Our 7th grade artists have been exploring the bold, colorful, and expressive style of contemporary artist Dean Russo! Students studied Russo’s unique animal artwork and then put their own creative spin on his techniques.

Throughout this project, students are applying their knowledge of warm and cool colors while exploring the elements of art and design, including line, shape, color, texture, and pattern. They are also experimenting with layering watercolor, colored pencil, and Sharpie to create energetic backgrounds and expressive animal portraits.

But the goal isn’t simply to copy an artist’s work—it’s to learn from an artist’s techniques and use them to develop their own artistic voice. Our students have been making thoughtful and creative choices about colors, patterns, textures, and details to make each piece uniquely their own!

We are so proud of the creativity, individuality, and artistic expression our 7th grade artists are showing! ❤️🖤🤍

Take a look at some of their colorful creations! 🎨🐾

🎥 Lights, Camera, VNN! 🎬

The Broadcasting class has been hard at work behind the scenes producing our weekly VNN (Viking News Network)! 🎤📺 From planning and filming to editing and putting it all together, our students are gaining hands-on experience in the world of broadcasting while keeping our school community informed.

Students tune in to VNN each week during homeroom to catch up on all the latest happenings around the school! 📰💙

Miss an episode? No worries! You can also watch VNN on our Junior High YouTube channel. Be sure to check it out and see what our Broadcasting students have been working on! 🎥🎬

🏎️💨 Science meets speed in Mr. Allen’s 7th Grade Science class! 💨🏎️

Our 7th graders are putting their racing skills and their science skills to the test! Students are investigating the relationship between mass and speed by collecting real data using Hot Wheels cars. 🏁

They’re weighing their cars, sending them racing down the track, and carefully timing each run to see how changes in mass may affect how quickly the cars travel.

Who knew a little Hot Wheels racing could lead to some big science discoveries? 🔬🏎️📊

Great job, 7th graders, putting your data-collection and scientific thinking skills into action!

It’s a Mystery in the 8th grade Science Lab! 🔎🧪

Our students are kicking off an exciting week of hands-on learning as they dive into chemistry and chemical reactions! Throughout the week, students will be conducting a series of labs and using their observations, evidence, and critical-thinking skills to investigate a “mystery mixture.” 🕵️‍♀️🧪

Their mission? Narrow down the possible ingredients and figure out what’s hiding inside their mystery substance! Students will be making observations, testing their ideas, and learning how chemical reactions can help us identify unknown substances.
