One week.
That’s how long it has been since Mustafa walked across the graduation stage at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) with a Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science. 🎓

But this moment has been more than a week in the making.

Just over eight years ago, Mustafa was a young boy growing up in the pastoral, arid county of Isiolo in northern Kenya. He had performed exceptionally well in his primary school exams and carried big dreams but circumstances could easily have written a different story - but a place at Starehe Boys’ Centre under an EFAC scholarship opened a door.

For the next eight years, Mustafa kept going - through high school, university, and every challenge and milestone in between.

And perhaps that is the most beautiful part of Mustafa’s story: the opportunity he received is one he now hopes to pass on.

“Beyond career success, I hope to live out one of the values EFAC has always taught us: giving back. I hope to use what I learn, achieve and become to support others. I’m excited about the future and the opportunity to make an impact along the way.”

Congratulations, Mustafa. Make the world a better place.

A Night of Dreams and Impact.

235 scholars, 50+ friends of EFAC, and more than 20 alumni convened under the Friday night sky, last week for the Power of One Dinner.

Truth is, what we experienced may not be put in words - a community that's ready to stick together for just that one Kenyan child who deserves a shot at seeing their dreams come true.

We laughed, we danced, we enjoyed a meal together and most importantly were inspired through the stories shared; to stick behind the mission - one child at a time.

Thank you to our event sponsors, partners and everyone who came.

Not too late to support the cause, you may visit our campaign page https://rb.gy/cgzclx

Another one gowned!🎓

Life may have started out difficult in the busy slum of Mathare in Nairobi. That happens often for young people here; circumstances can make dreams feel far away. But not for Esther.

When Esther joined EFAC in 2018 through our partnership with the Kijabe Children's Education Fund (KCEF), she was a young girl full of ambition and dreams she was ready to hold on to. Years of learning and becoming, later, Esther has reached a beautiful milestone: graduating from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry!

“When I look back, I see how much I have grown, how far I have come, and how much farther I still have to go. A path has been paved for me, and now that small girl from Mathare slums can dare to dream big.” - Esther.

And dream big she will. Congratulations Esther, go impact the world.

Wow! It has been a week already since 235 of our Form 3 students walked onto campus for the Bridge-to-Success August Camp. Time has flown, but we still have a moment to share with you how impactful our week was.

They learned who they're BECOMING.
They sharpened their DECISION MAKING.
They found their voice through COMMUNICATIONS & PERSONAL BRANDING
They planned for tomorrow with FINANCIAL LITERACY
They learned to care for themselves, fully through REPRODUCTIVE AND MENTAL HEALTH training.
They saw what's possible. CAREER DAY brought our Alumni and other professionals to campus, and our scholars got to sit with people who walked this same path before them - proof that the road ahead is real and reachable.

And because growth needs joy too - a fiery sports day, a talent night full of surprises, and a movie session rounded out the week, reminding us why community matters.

We've known 'Community' from every single scholar and alumni who have walked through doors. We've experienced it through every donor, sponsor, partner, teacher, mentor, staff who give so much to support the dreams of young Kenyans, every single day.

This Friday we celebrate "community" at the Dinner.

Another one bagged! 🎓

When we asked Eve how she feels about graduating a few days ago, she was brief - lost for words. Not the usual her, being that she is one of the most active peer mentors in our community, but because all the memories came sinking in at once.

She's put in everything to be here, and as she graduates with a Bachelor of Counselling Psychology from Africa Nazarene University, she feels closer to what always felt so far away - success for her and her family.

"It feels so good to see four years of sleepless nights, sacrifice, and hard work finally pay off. I'm hopeful I'll land a job that aligns with my degree, grow my career, and be in a position to engage great minds and transform others too." She says.

We are proud of you, Eve, and can't wait to see you make exploits. Congratulations!

8 years ago. That's when Geylord joined EFAC.
At that time, a small boy had only his dreams to hang on to. He didn't know much. He just knew he wanted to go far - further than his circumstances seemed to allow.

Now years have passed. There have been long nights of study, quiet moments of doubt sometimes, but again there has been support from a community that belives in him.

As of yesterday - July 31st, that small boy, then, is officially a graduate of Africa Nazarene University, Bachelor of Laws in hand.

"Looking back, I feel proud, grateful, and humbled because every sacrifice, late night, and obstacle has led to this achievement." - Geylord

Congratulations Geylord. We are proud of you.

We've heard stories of students who walked miles to school before the sun came up.
Seen girls who ran away from early marriages so they could build a better future for themselves.
We've had boys who knew no other home apart from school, because there was no one to go back home to.
We have talked to children who sat exams on an empty stomach, and still refused to come second.

In more than one instance, we have witnessed some of these amazing young people go on to become teachers, engineers, medics, lawyers, and tens of other impactful careers.

And we have seen them go back home and start that little change.

That is the power of one child, given one chance.

This August, we can create one more of these stories.

To our community in Kenya - join us for the EFAC "Power of One" Dinner - an evening of sharing in a meal, real stories, and shared purpose — as we walk one more deserving child into a classroom.

📅 Friday, 14th August 2026 | 7:00pm
📍 Venue: Moi Girls, Nairobi

As 72 of our scholars prepare to complete their eight-year journey with EFAC and transition into the next chapter of their lives, we took a moment to reflect on the impact of that journey.

During the 2026 Wezesha Class Launch, we sat down with one of our scholars, Melan, to reflect on her journey, the impact of the EFAC scholarship, and the lessons she'll carry with her as she steps into this exciting new phase.

Here's what she had to say.
