SSU Tri-Beta Biological Honor Society

Tri-Beta inductions will be tomorrow (4/22/22) at 6:00 pm in Library 204. All new associate and regular members will be inducted and recognized. New officers will be installed. In addition, graduating seniors will be recognized and will receive their cords. Refreshments are provided!

This is a reminder that our elections are coming up for Tri-Beta office positions. If you would like to run for an office and have not told Megan, please let her know soon.

Elections will be held in-person at our next meeting, which is Friday, April 15th at 12:30 PM in Massie 020. Please let Megan know by next Monday, April 11th if you would like to run so that your name will be on the ballots.

Please see the email from 1/28 for the responsibilities of each office positions. Elected 2022-2023 officers will be required to be at the banquet (tentative date: Friday, April 22nd) to accept their positions.

Are you in the mood for some pancakes? How about pancakes that support our hardworking Biology students embarking on a life-changing journey? Well, then come out to a pancake breakfast fundraiser this Saturday March 12th at the Lucasville Masonic Lodge. 8am-11am. Meals are $5 each. (326 Robert Lucas Road, Lucasville, OH 45648.) Funds will offset student travel costs and any excess funds will be donated to the Cano Palma Biological Station. We hope to see you there!
More details: After a 3 year interruption, our BIOL3100 Field Studies course has the green light to travel to the Cano Palma Biological Station in Costa Rica. Our students volunteer at the research station collecting data for long-term research projects, gain hands-on field experience that translates to internships, job offers, and grad school admissions, and explore a new country. Our students have arrived at the Cano Palma Biological Station in Costa Rica. In the first photos sent by Dr. Sarah Minter, you can see they are happily learning to triangulate sea turtle nests.

Our second meeting of the semester will be today in Massie 204. The meeting will start at 12:15 PM, and we will have SSU alumna Alena Bruening speaking at the meeting.
