๐Ÿ’ค Safe Sleep Matters ๐Ÿ’™

At our child care center, the safety and well-being of every infant is our highest priority. That's why we follow safe sleep practices every day to help reduce the risk of sleep-related injuries and ensure babies have a safe environment for rest.

Safe sleep practices include:
โœ”๏ธ Placing infants on their backs to sleep
โœ”๏ธ Using a firm, flat sleep surface
โœ”๏ธ Keeping cribs free of blankets, pillows, stuffed animals, and other loose items
โœ”๏ธ Monitoring sleeping infants regularly
โœ”๏ธ Following each child's individual needs while adhering to safe sleep guidelines

Consistent safe sleep practices at home and in child care help create the safest possible environment for babies. We encourage families to partner with us by following safe sleep recommendations whenever their infant sleeps.

Together, we can help protect our youngest learners and give families peace of mind knowing their children are resting safely. ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’™

Thank you for trusting us with your little ones and for helping us promote safe sleep every day!

๐Ÿงธ Keeping Our Children Healthy & Safe ๐Ÿงธ

As cold, flu, and other illness seasons continue throughout the year, we kindly ask families to help us maintain a healthy environment by following our illness policy.

When children come to the center while sick, illnesses can spread quickly to classmates, teachers, and families. Keeping an ill child at home allows them the time they need to rest and recover while helping protect others from becoming sick.

Please keep your child home if they are experiencing symptoms such as:
โ€ข Fever
โ€ข Vomiting or diarrhea
โ€ข Persistent cough
โ€ข Unexplained rash
โ€ข Contagious illnesses
โ€ข Any symptoms that prevent them from comfortably participating in daily activities

We understand that staying home can be inconvenient, but these guidelines are in place to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children and staff in our care.

Thank you for your cooperation, understanding, and commitment to keeping our child care community healthy. Together, we can help reduce the spread of illness and create a safe environment where children can learn, play, and thrive. โค๏ธ

If you have any questions about our illness policy, please don't hesitate to contact us.

๐Ÿง  Learning through Play

Play-based learning supports early development by allowing young children to build foundational skills through active exploration, experimentation, and social interaction rather than passive instruction. In play, children naturally practice problem-solving, communication, self-regulation, and physical coordination in ways that are meaningful to them, which strengthens learning retention and motivation.

From a cognitive development perspective, play encourages children to test ideas, recognize patterns, and understand cause-and-effect relationships. The work of Jean Piaget helps explain this: children construct knowledge through hands-on interaction with their environment, and play provides a rich setting for that construction. Activities like building blocks, pretend cooking, or sorting objects support logical thinking and early math and science concepts.

Social and emotional development is also strongly supported. During cooperative play, children learn to negotiate roles, share resources, manage conflict, and understand othersโ€™ perspectives. These experiences build empathy and emotional regulation. In guided social learning contexts, Lev Vygotsky emphasized that children learn best when interacting with more skilled peers or adults within their โ€œzone of proximal development,โ€ which play naturally facilitates.

Language development expands as children narrate their actions, engage in pretend scenarios, and communicate with peers. For example, role-playing a store or doctorโ€™s office encourages vocabulary growth and more complex sentence structures because children must explain ideas and respond to others in real time.

Play-based learning strengthens executive function skills such as attention control, planning, and flexible thinking. Because play is intrinsically motivating, children are more willing to persist through challenges, take intellectual risks, and practice new skills repeatedly building a strong foundation for later academic learning.

Today was such a fun day for our kiddos! ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿ“š Their favorite place, the library, came to visit and brought so many exciting activities with them! The kids got to explore pig pictures and even had some messy fun with โ€œmudโ€ paint ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿท (which they absolutely loved ๐Ÿ˜„).

To top it all off, everyone had a blast sharing their best crocodile roars โ€” and let me tell you, we have some pretty fierce little crocs in our group! ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿ’š

It was a day full of creativity, laughter, and learning! Scioto County Public Library
