It's been awhile. I have truly been enjoying the season I'm in. All of winter and all of the time both inside and out. Of my life, redressing a beautiful home and making memories with family and friends.
And now, mud season.
Mud season was not something I experienced or heard referenced until moving here.
After living through a few mud seasons, I've seen how nature effects its inhabitants.
The feeling of lethargy cozily creeps in. The general population tone is a clipped one. The gruff sound being through with the burly burden that befalls New Englanders with its torturous winters.
During my 15 years in retail, this season brought in the shoppers. As a yoga teacher, this is the time when student numbers in class dwindle.
The way it's tracked in my own personal experience is that mud season is our own personal new year. Many of us are literally planning our gardens, dreaming of what we wish to grow.
A seed of an idea.
But before the doing comes, you have to mill through the resistance. Resistance can be a complicated feeling to explore. It requires you to confront the quality of your self esteem. The chatter in the back of your head.
Some of us shop the incessant chirping sound of resistance away. Or plug in your regularly scheduled vice.
Instead of berating yourself for this, acknowledge that this is part of the journey of setting a goal. So that when the ground dries out a bit, you can plant a seed of a fruit you want to grow with the comfort of knowing that it won't get washed away. You patiently got through mud season and now you have created solid foundation where a seedling can take route.
So for now, let that kinda soothing feeling wash over you of the boots stuck in mud. It's the season for it.
I have some wonderful offerings coming for both the new practitioner and the seasoned one. This winter has given me a breadth of knowledge and insight I eager hope to share.
Stay muddy, my friends.
