✨ From the bottom of my heart, I want to share something deeply personal with you — a message filled with both gratitude and emotion. MaxCharles has been one of the greatest loves of my life, and it’s time to lovingly close this chapter and begin a new one. ✨
Dear MaxCharles Family,
This letter is one of the hardest I’ve ever had to write. After 11 beautiful years — 9½ of them inside the walls of MaxCharles Salon — I’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to close our doors at the end of this year. Our lease comes to an end on December 31st, and I’ve chosen to take this moment to close this chapter of my life with intention, peace, and love.
Last year brought me a major health scare that completely changed how I view my professional life. It reminded me that peace, health, and family are everything — and that sometimes, the strongest choice is to step back, breathe, and allow yourself to heal. I’ve poured my heart and soul into this business for more than a decade, and I am so proud of what we’ve built together.
To our incredible clients, past and present — you are the heartbeat of MaxCharles. You’ve trusted us with your stories, your transformations, and your milestones. You’ve sat in our chairs through laughter, tears, and everything in between. You made MaxCharles more than a salon — you made it a family.
To the stylists and team members who have worked beside me over the years — you are the soul of this place. Your creativity, loyalty, and passion brought this salon to life every single day. Together we created something extraordinary, and I will forever be grateful for your part in this journey.
We’ve been through so much together — opening our doors for the first time, surviving the challenges of COVID, growing, evolving, and eventually moving to Portsmouth. Every stage came with its struggles, its beauty, and its lessons. And through it all, this community stood strong.
I am thankful beyond words that I get to close MaxCharles by choice — not because I have to, but because it feels right. Because I know the legacy of this salon will always live on in the relationships, memories, and love that filled its walls.
Although MaxCharles Hair Studio will close, my work and my love for this craft will continue. Beginning in December, I will be working as a solo stylist at Sola Suites in Portsmouth. I’ll remain at MaxCharles until then, and I can’t wait to see as many of you as possible before we close our doors.
I have also made the heartfelt decision to retire the MaxCharles name with the salon, honoring everything it has stood for. Going forward, I will continue my hair business under my new name — LaRose Hair Boutique — a new chapter rooted in love, growth, and renewal.
And while this transition is emotional, I am filled with joy knowing that Lindsey and Meridith have found an amazing new home at Katie Walsh Glam Salon in downtown Portsmouth, starting this Tuesday. I couldn’t be prouder of them or more confident that they’ll continue to shine surrounded by an incredible team.
Thank you for being part of this journey — for every appointment, every conversation, every shared moment that made MaxCharles what it is. This isn’t goodbye forever, but rather a turning of the page toward peace, healing, and whatever comes next.
With love, gratitude, and endless appreciation,
Missi LaRose
Owner, MaxCharles Salon
