Pennfield is an independent day school for boys and girls, preschool (age 3) through eighth grade.

Pennfield is a school where teachers know their students well, where it's OK to be a child and play, where academic expectations (and student performance) are high, where values like respect, honesty, and compassion matter - and are infused in all that we do – and where children and adults smile.

Recognize anyone in these self-portraits? 🎨 It's hard to believe a week has passed since graduation. We already miss these talented artists, but we're excited to see where their next adventures take them.

🎨💚 Our newest alumni may have graduated, but they'll always have a place at Pennfield.

One of our favorite 8th grade traditions is the creation of an heirloom tile project. Each student designs a tile that reflects their Pennfield journey, interests, memories, or something meaningful about themselves. Once completed, the tiles are permanently displayed in our Middle School hallways, becoming part of Pennfield's history.

That’s a wrap! 🎤 6th grade recently completed a TEDTalk unit at Pennfield, stepping up to the podium to share persuasive speeches with confidence, creativity, and courage!

Students researched and presented on topics ranging from starting school later, avoiding burnout in sports, saving sea turtles to limiting AI and video game usage. 🐢📚🎮🤖

It was a fun and thoughtful persuasive adventure, made even more special with guest audience members including Mr. A, parents, and faculty, who also voted on TEDTalk superlatives that were awarded to students.

We are so proud of the hard work, research, public speaking, and passion these students brought to their presentations.

Our Pre-K students have been enjoying the wonderful stories of Eric Carle, including The Grouchy Ladybug, The Very Quiet Cricket, The Very Busy Spider, and The Tiny Seed. After each story, students brought the books to life through creative crafts inspired by the characters and themes they explored.

From insects and spiders to seeds and flowers, these beloved stories sparked imagination, creativity, and plenty of springtime fun!

We wrapped up our final Buddy Day of the school year this week with a fun and colorful activity! Students spent time together painting t-shirts and adding handprints to one another’s shirts as a special reminder of the friendships they’ve built throughout the year.

After all the creativity, everyone cooled off with popsicles. Buddy Days are such a meaningful part of the Pennfield experience, bringing students of all ages together to connect, create, and celebrate community.

Good luck to these three impressive students as they head to Maryland tomorrow for the SeaPerch competition!

They have worked incredibly hard throughout the winter and spring to prepare for this opportunity, building their skills, teamwork, and perseverance along the way. They’re ready to work hard, be kind, have fun, and showcase all they’ve learned.

We are so proud of all they have accomplished already and can’t wait to cheer them on from Pennfield!

Our Primary students enjoyed some special reading time outdoors as 3rd graders shared stories with their Pre-K and Preschool pals during library time on the playground. The fun continued as 4th graders visited Preschool classrooms to read aloud and connect with the younger students.

These moments help foster confidence, leadership, and a love of reading across all grade levels while building meaningful connections throughout our school community.
