Exploring Yayoi Kusama! 🎨 Second grade artists are learning about Kusama and her use of gestural repetitive marks and lines. Through a meditative process, they created their own infinity nets using familiar, comfortable drawing gestures. Students are learning how Kusama used this process in her artwork and how creating repetitive patterns helped her alleviate anxiety.

Some activities from second grade this past week! 💚

Students read Enemy Pie and created a recipe for friendship. They made a word web of the ingredients that make a good friendship, then created their own friendship pies!

In math, students used base-ten blocks to practice place value. They built three-digit numbers and translated numbers from standard form into expanded form, learning that each digit has a different value depending on its place.

What a great day at Sail Newport! Our 4th and 5th graders spent the day on the water, building teamwork, confidence, and responsibility as they learned to sail. They also explored the connections between ocean health, weather, wildlife, and maritime communities, gaining a deeper appreciation for the importance of environmental stewardship.
