Christopher Academy families and friends had the unique opportunity yesterday morning to tour one of the visiting tall ships, the ARA Libertad. Christopher Academy proudly adopted the ship as part of Sail250. The Libertad serves as the sail training vessel of the Argentine Navy and travels the world as a floating ambassador of goodwill for Argentina.

The crew could not have been more welcoming. Our liaison, Ariel, and members of the crew provided a private tour of the ship, including the bridge, hospital, and crew mess areas, offering a fascinating glimpse into life aboard this historic vessel.

As part of our welcome, Christopher Academy presented each crew member with a gift bag filled with CA spirit items, handwritten letters from our students, and a selection of popular American snacks and beverages. We also shared a collection of beautiful student artwork inspired by Argentine artists. A special thank you to Mrs. Brickey for guiding our students in creating such meaningful and thoughtful pieces.

At the conclusion of our visit, the crew graciously hosted refreshments and presented Christopher Academy with a beautifully engraved painting of the ARA Libertad, which will be proudly displayed at the school.

We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who helped make this memorable experience possible: Ken Newman, Christopher Academy Board of Trustees member, for connecting us with Sail250; Donna Davenport for coordinating the visit; our CA families for donating items for the welcome bags; Ella Borstelmann for assembling the gift bags; the volunteers who delivered them to the ship; and all the families who joined us for the tour.

This was truly an unforgettable experience and a wonderful opportunity to strengthen international friendships while creating lasting memories for our school community!

Thank you to our fabulous alumni for coming out to help at our field day stations yesterday! It’s always fun to have alumni come back to visit CA!

And a BIG thank you to Mr. Wheeler, Ms. Cherry, teachers and staff, and all of our parent volunteers for all of your hard work and dedication in making it a successful and fun day for our students!

Mr. Rohan Kuchibhatla was our CA Head of School for the day today! He started out strong this morning by helping with carpool and conducting our final fire drill of the year! He surprised all of us with a holiday-themed dance party out on the field- which was fitting since it was “Wear Your Favorite Holiday Outfit” for Spirit Week.

He shadowed Mrs. Davenport for the day, visiting all of the classrooms during his busy day. He hosted lunch with his pals in his office. Then he ended his day watching the musical practice and helping call names for carpool!

Great job today, Mr. K.!

Three CA students have enjoyed the special experience of Teacher of the Day over the last week!

Miss Vivian Smith Jones was Teacher of the Day in Mrs. Ardagna's first grade class, following in her siblings’ footsteps She helped her teachers to mark and file papers, assisted students to log into their computers and led the math jobs. Miss Smith Jones even came prepared with her own colored pens and whistle!

Miss Pahel Shah was Teacher of the Day in Mrs. Meas’ second grade class on Friday. She led Language Art and Math, went over our morning worksheet, gave and graded the practice spelling test, graded fact master quizzes, and helped students out with anything they needed - like a natural teacher!

Miss Anna Jeffers enjoyed being Teacher of the Day today in Mrs. Romein's fourth grade class. Miss Jeffers had a busy day helping to set up the stage and bring materials over the talent show, giving out the weekly jobs, writing instructions on the board for the students, and completing attendance for Mrs. Romein.

We celebrated our fabulous teachers and staff last week during Teacher Appreciation Week! Thank you to Mrs. Davenport, the Board of Trustees, the office staff, and our wonderful CA families for providing yummy treats and delicious lunches the entire week! ❤️💛
