Woodrow Wilson High School Alumni Welcome to Presidential Territory! Open to alumni, teachers, faculty, friends & family of WWHS. The first high school class graduated that same year.

Woodrow Wilson High School can be traced back to 1885, when a high school was organized at The Academy on Glasgow Street, which had housed only grammar and elementary students from 1850 through 1884. In 1886 the Glasgow Street building was no longer suitable, so the city erected a new building on Green Street, known as the Green Street School. High school, grammar, and elementary students moved th

ere from the Glasgow Street location in September 1886. In 1888, Portsmouth High School was formally established but continued to be housed in the Green Street building. Portsmouth High moved to a brand new building on Washington Street in 1909. The new facility was the first one planned for the exclusive use of the high school and the once separated male & female classes were taught together. Portsmouth High School it was called until September 1919 when renamed Woodrow Wilson High School in honor of our 28th President and moved to a new building on High Street. The vacated building became an elementary school called Washington Street School, and later F.T. Briggs School. In September 1955, WWHS moved again to a new state of the art facility on Willett Drive, and the vacated building on High Street became Harry A. Hunt Junior High School. In 1993 Manor High School was renamed Woodrow Wilson High School. Along with the closure of Cradock High School all three schools were merged together. 2020 was the last class to graduate from Woodrow Wilson High, the building was renamed back to Manor High.

One would logically think the council that we elect to this great city would have voted on this years ago. Especially Portsmouth with all of its negativity. It sure would feel good as a community to come together and be proactive instead of having to always be reactive... What are your thoughts?

Good Morning everyone. I’m looking for people that are interested in planning for future Homecoming Events and other events to give back to PPS and the community. I want to create something that will allow us to do things within our community.
I know we don’t have a school anymore but I have several people with ideas to keep our school alive.. This will be outside of the Grand Reunion Planning… but all are welcome to meet up about the ideas some of us have.. please comment below if you’re wanting to be involved. All band members I need yall too.
