Start saving samples now, if you’re thinking of using a portfolio evaluation in spring Great portfolios can come in so many sizes and configurations! Heres an example arranged month by month:

Starting a new year! Audiobooks give all students access to literature. Don't be afraid to use them in the classroom and at home. Instill a love for a good story early on and children will be eager to read more.

When rigor and excellence are not the same thing:

AP classes should be taken by students seeking more academic rigor, and not solely to appease college admissions.

Proud to support our own homeschool families! Here’s what Shunecia Slusher said about us recently:
“I had my children tested in May for proof of progress with The Testing Lady. I HIGHLY recommend! We received very professional services and they worked with me answering all of my questions and always got back to me as I came up with other questions and needs after the testing. I will surely be using their service again.”

While you don't technically NEED a proof-of-progress after 18, here is one caution and a fairly unpopular opinion.

The Testing Lady has been testing for 40 years. We recommend you do end-of-year testing for those 4 years of high school (SAT or ACT count).

We have seen when folks have chosen to not test at the end of the 12th grade, it has come back to bite some of them. Many government jobs, (whether local, state, federal, military) want to see completion of high school and even though the child may have a transcript, they want to see all four tests 9th through 12th grades.

Keep your transcripts, too!! There have been situations where a 50-year-old applied for a job that wanted high school transcript... even though the individual had a PhD!!!!! 🤯

Taking the time and spending the money now is a small price to pay for not having a huge head ache or missed job opportunity later in life.

Support means everything!

The right instruction doesn’t just improve reading skills—it can change confidence, reduce frustration, and open doors that once felt out of reach.

When we teach students in ways that align with how their brains learn, we stop asking them to fit the instruction and start making the instruction fit the learner.

That’s where meaningful progress begins.

Every student deserves the opportunity to experience success. 💙

After August 1, I’m happy to volunteer time helping you understand your child’s standardized test score. I want you to understand the results of the IOWA, TerraNova, Stanford or CAT that you administered at home. This data can be very worthwhile! Call my business cell number listed here on my page.
