Softball player by spring, paleoethnobotanist by summer. (Yes, we had to double check the spelling a few times.) Meet Camdyn Johnson '27. 🦴🌱⛏️

This summer, she's been working inside the Maine State Museum's collections building, helping rebuild a major exhibit case by case, digging through 500-year-old fishing tools and figuring out what people in Maine were eating 12,000 years ago (spoiler: a LOT more than we do now).

Claire's family has spent three years being told what she can't do. This spring, a group of USM engineering and occupational therapy students spent a semester proving otherwise.

Together, they teamed up to build Claire a one-of-a-kind ride-on car — custom hand controls, a five-point harness, and even a trailer for her wheelchair. Every detail designed around her.
