Earlier this summer, every Fellow came together for 2½ days at our first ever overnight Fellowship Retreat.
We went canoeing, sat around campfires, played games. Took on challenges that were well.. challenging. š
Talked about conflict, masculinity, relationships, and the things weāre carrying. We laughed, performed at an open mic night, and had a whole lot of time to just be together.
We welcomed men from our community into an intergenerational menās dialogue, to reflect, connect, and explore the pillars of masculinity we are forced to hold and the ones weāre trying to build, across generations, with ages ranging from 15-68.
Without the usual rush of a few hour program (and without phones to retreat into during the quiet moments), the Fellows had space to deepen together and to experience living in authentic community. They practiced staying curious when conflict came up, asking for help, offering support without taking over, and being vulnerable with one another.
One Fellow left realizing, āThere are other men struggling with the same things I am⦠I am never alone.ā
At the end of the retreat, we invited the Fellows to leave our closing labyrinth walk individually. Instead, they walked out hand in hand.
That says a lot about what the Fellowship is becoming. š§”
