Here’s an idea I had about how you can expand your left hand position when playing something in a Mixolydian tonality. This is all in E because well, guitar, lol. I like the three notes per string vibe of this shape because it stretches between a couple of the more common soloing positions we use when we rock in the key of E. These two have been there since before I was big enough to even hold a guitar much less play it. They were there at my first public performance, showed me countless bands, taught me how to play power chords, saw my high school band play a bunch of times, and even showed me how to Ollie on a skateboard. The more I think about it, they may be the two most influential people in my musical life besides my dad. Thanks for the memories, the hang, and for making me listen to Guided by Voices all those years ago.
