LOST FIN!

Scubapro Twin Jet size medium fin is lost. Last seen a Dyer Cove, Cape Elizabeth in the water. This fin floats so if you see it at the surface please return. There will be a blue piece of tape wrapped around the boot strap - pictured below.

POTENTIAL COMMUNITY SCIENCE DIVES

July 20 meet at shop at 3:15, get to Willard Beach by 3:35 and in the water by 4. This is our eelgrass survey dive. We will be collecting data on a 100 foot transect using quadrats every 10 feet, should take about 40-60 minutes. One of our temperature loggers got pulled out from the ground so a small group of you will be tasked to place it back in the ground. If you do not need gear or want to meet us at Willard Beach that is fine, just get there by 3:30. Parking can be tricky so be aware of that. If you need to rent gear, please stop at the shop beforehand and grab it. Julie knows some of you will need to rent so make sure you arrive with plenty of time to spare.

July 27th meet at Kettle Cove at 3:30pm. This is our invasive species survey so we will begin with 30 minutes of tidepooling then get in the water for a 40-60 minute dive. If you need to rent gear, please stop at the shop before hand and grab it. Julie knows some of you will need to rent so make sure you arrive with plenty of time to spare.

Friendly reminder of our first community science dive!! Please meet me at Kettle Cove State Park at 2:30pm. We will begin with 30-40 minutes of tidepooling then head into the water. Dress appropriately as it will be a little chilly. I will already be there - I have a white Mitsubishi outlander and will be parked on the far side of the lot away from the beach.

If you have one, bring a writing slate as we will need to take notes of our observations underwater. I only have a few extras so if you are interested in keeping up with this, I advise you to buy your own (they're only 20$). I have paper sheets of what we need to fill out, we can copy it onto our slates.

If you have cameras, feel free to bring them. I will have my go-pro but more footage is always welcome.

Lastly, if you need to rent gear, head to the store ahead of time. Julie knows some of you will need gear but it could take her up to 30 minutes to sort it all out - so I recommend you get there an hour ahead just in case it's busy.

COMMUNITY SCIENCE DIVE ON THE 27 HAS BEEN CANCELED. THE NEXT OPTION TO JOIN IS THE 22.

POTENTIAL COMMUNITY SCIENCE DIVES!!

MIMIC/INVASIVE SPECIES SURVERY

These dives will start with 30 minutes of tide-pooling, then wrap up with a dive surveying for invasive species through eelgrass and rocky reef.

I will train a large group of you, then you all can go off on your own to collect data. Report back to the shop via a google forum that will go live within the next week.
