I'm playing around with a new service to offer. I'm going to call it curiosity coaching. As a curiosity coach, kids would have a safe space to talk about their ideas and interests, and I would be there to encourage and facilitate their learning through strategies and further questions to consider. It would also be a safe space for kids to talk about their special interests. I know from experience that a lot of neurotypical people get annoyed when kids go on and on about their special interests. I, however, love listening to other special interests and could encourage their growth and development. Let me know what ya'll think about such a service!

Double Empathy Problem

I’m developing and refining strategies for PDA, known as pathological demand avoidance, which can be better understood as a persistent drive for autonomy. I think there are a lot of misunderstandings about how this works and about effective strategies, but understanding PDA from the perspective of autonomy is a much better way to view things and find solutions!

Hi! I’m Phil, a neurodivergent educator with a passion for helping neurodivergent students strive!

I specialize in tutoring and mentoring in the humanities—especially English Language Arts and Social Studies—but I also have experience supporting learners in math and science (K–8). In addition, I offer mentoring and learning strategies to help motivate learners based on their special interests and passions. My own special interests include linguistics and language learning, and philosophy. I lived in Russia for over 20 years and can teach Russian, ESL, language learning techniques as well as philosophy.

In addition to this page, I have created a group called ND Learners, which space for neurodivergent learners (and those who support them) to share strategies, ask questions, and find community.

Right now I’m in the process of setting up my website at [ndlearners.com](http://ndlearners.com/) and will post here again when that is set up. In the meantime, I’ll be using this page to share updates, insights, and resources for students and families.

If you are a parent, educator, or learners who wants to connect, feel free to post here or message if you have any questions or comments!
