When your child is overwhelmed—when the storm is building, and the tears start to rise, and they lash out in ways that surprise even them—
they’re not looking for a perfect parent.

They’re looking for safety.

Not rules. Not fixes. Not consequences.
Safety.

A face that doesn’t reflect fear back at them.
A voice that doesn’t rise to match theirs.
A presence that says, “You can be messy, and I will stay.”

You don’t have to get it right all the time.
You just have to practice staying calm more often than you lose it.
You just have to create an environment where mistakes don’t cost connection.

Because the more safe they feel with you,
The more regulated their brain becomes.
The more you lead with calm,
The more they’ll learn to find their own.

It doesn’t happen overnight.
But it does happen.

And it starts with you—being the safest person in the room.
