We need help to move the chips out of the street. The pile is a lot smaller than it was thanks to hearty (and good-hearted) volunteers who've pushed many wheelbarrow loads up the slope. The beautiful, dry weather has made the wood chips a lot lighter than they were after the big rain storm we had a couple of weeks ago. If you can give an hour or two on Saturday, the garden will thank you. And Aurora promises treats to the volunteer crew.

Brooklyn Community Garden Group Work Session
Let's Move Those Chips!
Let's Pull Out Those Weeds!
And Let's Do It Together!
You're invited to come to Brooklyn Community Garden this Saturday, October 12, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a group work session. We need to move the pile of chips out of the street, and there is plenty of w**ding needed on the access slope and throughout the garden. Whether you're a plot holder or not you are welcome to join in and help get the garden into shape.

Note to BCG Plot Holders
At yesterday's Quarterly Meeting it was decided that each plot holder's annual commitment of 10 hours of volunteer time be divided into quarterly amounts. This comes to a little more than 3 hours every 3 months for each of you to devote to community projects for the garden. Of course the hours for this Saturday's work session will count toward your overall volunteer hour commitment. We encourage you to give an hour or two of your time to help out If you can not make Saturday's group session you are encouraged to work on these projects on your own time.

The garden hosted a booth at this annual event, selling t-shirts and posters of the shed mural. Thanks to Aurora for organizing everything, and to Jade for helping out during the event.

LAST Work Session August 22, 2013 08/25/2013

LAST (Learning And Serving Together) members worked hard at Brooklyn Community Garden. Thanks so much to a great group of young people and their older helpers.

08/15/2013

One more group of young people from LAST (Learning And Serving Together) will be volunteering at the garden on Thursday, August 22 from 9 to 2. These teens travel to Portland from other towns to work with various non-profit organizations. This group requested a project at a community garden, and BCG will be the recipient of their hard work. The past 3 LAST groups were fun and inspiring. All volunteers are welcome at this work session. Join us if you can.
