Mighty Mary, the inspirational new documentary directed by Mary Mazzio, tells the remarkable story of the only all-women’s sailing team to compete for the America’s Cup, a groundbreaking team that included Maine sailor Merritt Carey, who is featured in the film. The documentary has another strong Maine connection: Olympic, America’s Cup sailor and SailMaine board member Jim Brady competed in the historic 1995 America’s Cup campaign chronicled in the film.

The screening is Thurs, Nov 5th 5-8:30PM at USM Hannaford Hall

South Portland Middle School in action! Two awesome days of sailing so far and three more next week. The whole SoPo 6th grade will get on the water with SailMaine this fall! They also have a chance to do some STEM activities, learning about blocks & tackle and buoyancy. Thank you for coming!

Awesome stuff in Camden!

A fleet of eight J/22 sailboats broadened what the Camden Area Youth Seamanship Program (CAYSP) offered this year. For the first time, children could learn to sail on keelboats instead of dinghies, and adults took lessons and raced the boats in Camden Harbor.

It has been about 2 weeks since our huge summer fundraiser, the SailMaine Festival & Regatta. We have lots of photos to share and will send them out soon!

But first: HUGE thanks to our sponsors, volunteers, staff, and all of YOU! Thanks to everyone's amazing efforts we raised OVER $130,000 to support community sailing. Honestly, we are still in shock! This was our most successful year ever and feeling wildly grateful for our wonderful community. Onwards!
