St. Bernards were first used to do search/rescue work in the Swiss Alps. They sought out lost travelers or people caught in snowstorms, kept them warm, and even brought them to safety to the monasteries. What a very cool job!

Today, Bruno's job is to be a mascot for Timberline Lodge. He represents the amazing history of St. Bernards working in cold climates to help humans.

The theme for 2020: 🎉 "Celebrating Dogs With Jobs!"🎉

Did you know: the Dalmatian is only breed whose job is to "coach." This means the dog's job was to trot alongside 🐎 horse-drawn carriages 🐎 to keep horses calm, travelers safe, and act as a guard dog.


In the 1800s, fire trucks were pulled by horses. Dalmatians were used to keep horses calm and guard the equipment. This is how the Dalmatian got its other job as a "fire dog." 🚒🔥
