"When we come together, we can do extraordinary things."

That's what Mitchell Scholar alum Sean Sibley believes.

As the newest member of the Truc Huynh Alumni Giving Society, Sean is committed to ensuring future Mitchell Scholars have the same opportunities that helped shape his own journey.

"The Mitchell Institute network is so diverse and now so vast. We need to lean on each other and collaborate on the work we are striving to do. Whether it is donations, participation in events, mentoring Scholars, or simply being available, engagement holds enormous promise. When we come together, we can do extraordinary things."

Sean's story is a reminder that the impact of a Mitchell Scholarship doesn't end at graduation—it grows through a community committed to uplifting future generations of Mitchell Scholars. 💙

A message from our President & CEO, Jared Cash:

One of my greatest joys in this role is bragging on the Mitchell Scholars whose character, talent, and ambition inspire us every day. Two hundred graduates — one from every public high school in Maine — and by nearly every measure, a class on the rise:

🔹 63% are the first in their family to attend college, up from 58% a year ago
🔹 26% were the valedictorian or salutatorian of their class — a new high for our program
🔹 88% held a part-time job in high school, balancing work, family, and academics along the way

What moves me most is what they represent: grit, ambition, and a whole lot of hope. I can't wait to watch where these Scholars go.

Big congratulations to 2023 Oak Hill High School Mitchell Scholar Alexis Spencer! 🌟

Alexis has been selected for the National Science Foundation (NSF) summer research program, earning a spot among only three students nationwide.

This summer, Alexis will work on creating a computational model to predict how effectively different drugs can block the growth of certain cancer cells. 🔬

Alexis’s dedication, curiosity, and drive represent the kind of excellence we see in Mitchell Scholars every day. We’re proud to support students as they pursue their passions, embrace new opportunities, and create meaningful change. 💙

We can’t stop thinking about last week’s Graduation Celebration and Community Social.

Together, we celebrated the hard work, resilience, and bright futures of our newest Mitchell Alumni, surrounded by family, mentors, and the community that helped cheer them on along the way.

Their journeys are a powerful reminder of what happens when we invest in Maine’s future leaders. To the Class of 2026: you earned your degree and became part of a lifelong network of support.

Congratulations, Mitchell Alumni. We are so proud of you. 💙
