In honor of Indigenous People’s Day, here is a reminder to non-indigenous people (including myself) that we occupy Native land.
Personally, I’m exploring what it means to decolonize my work, and right now I have a lot of questions but not a ton of answers.
What I have figured out is that a critical question for decolonization is: what is my relationship with the land?
Do I see it as property? Something to “own” and exploit the resources of? Or do I see it as a living, breathing part of Nature, that I am here to both nurture and receive from? That I am a PART of?
I’m still unpacking this for myself and will continue to explore as a person committed to the liberation of Black, INDIGENOUS, People of Color
In the meantime, I highly suggest you check out to learn from some brilliant Native people
