CPVC. Ugh! Probably the worst piping ever invented. I'd rather drink from lead and kill my brain! As it ages CPVC becomes so brittle, it can snap just from the shock produced by turning off the water. This friend finished showering and both hot & cold snapped. So much fun on a cold winter's eve.

Vintage children's toy ladle repair with Harris Sta-Clean Flux, plumbing solder, and a heat gun . Did you know a cheap Harbor Freight heat gun can melt solder? Judy at Multnomah Antique Gallery will be pleased with this fix as it keeps a set complete.

Virtual teaching about the Oregon Trail. My wife works so hard, and replicates the classroom environment as best she can. I wish the school district would let her use her classroom. One teacher alone in a room is about as socially distanced as it gets. Instead she makes do with laptops propped on boxes and handmade maps taped to the wall. We had to up our Internet service to the fastest fiber optic available --I'm sure the government will increase the educator tax deduction above the $250 limit. Right? That way we'll have a normal school year only $2,500-$3,000 out of pocket. Haha ha!

De-rusting with electrolysis is pretty well known thanks to YouTube, but it's memorizing to watch nonetheless. Took over 2 days to completely blacken this plate by forcing it to accept electrons. The smaller pieces around the perimeter are sacrificed --they give up electrons and oxidize like mad! H2O is also split apart, with O2 and H2 bubbles rising from the parts in streams of tiny bubbles. Maybe I'll collect some for fun! @ Multnomah Village, Portland West

Awesome Porter Cable cordless hammer drill saved from the dumpster! Handle base was smashed, but a piece of heated plastic pipe and an electrical receptacle convert it to a "corded" drill that runs off my truck battery or power pack.

1. Carefully craft 2 in. cube for metal forming. 2. Insert in 20-ton press. 3. Give it one more pump for good measure. Right?
