Summer Pre-College at MECA

Summer Pre-College at MECA Maine College of Art offers a demanding and enlivening education in visual arts and design. The first step to creative freedom.

The residential Pre-College program provides high school students with the skills to embark on a rigorous study of the arts. Maine College of Art's Pre-College Program is open to students who have completed their sophomore, junior or senior year of high school. Students customize their individual Pre-College program by choosing two majors from the following media:

Music: Composition + Collaboration
- B+W Darkroom Photography
- Painting
- Commercial Illustration
- Comic + Graphic Novel Illustration
- Ceramics
- Fashion + Textile Design
- Metalsmithing + Jewelry Design
- Printmaking
- Photography
- Woodworking + Furniture Design

Program Dates
July 8–28, 2018. The program culminates with an exhibition of student work and a reception for students, family and friends. Application Deadline

Facilities
Located in the heart of the Arts District in downtown Portland, Maine College of Art occupies the 150,000 square foot Porteous building, a former department store built in Beaux-Arts style. Visual Arts students gain the experience of working in fully equipped studios with professional artists. All students live in MECA’s Oak Street Residence hall. This co-ed residence offers double rooms and laundry facilities. Rooms are segregated by gender, and students have a common area for socializing.
