Boothbay Craft Brewery's Russell is a Doppelbock, an 11% ABV Winterized Lager. It is infused with 10 gallons of Maine maple syrup. This beer poured beautifully, light brown with ruby highlights and a long lasting white head. It smelled like toasted malt, caramel, with a hint of fruit. It tasted malt forward, like toasted malt and nuttiness.

The degree to which a grain is kilned determines it's aroma and taste. Barely kilned barley will taste like white bread or water crackers, and the darker it gets the stronger the flavor. Just by looking at the color of your beer you can make some guesses about how it will smell and taste.

Orono Brewing's Love is Love is a chocolate raspberry Imperial Stout made with malt from the Maine Malt House. It smells like chocolate, a whole lot of raspberry and has a hint of toasted bread. It has strong raspberry notes, a hint of chocolate, a bitter finish and a hint of toasted bread at the end.
