First workshop in the books! 🙌🏽 And it really solidified what I want these workshops to be.
I want to create hip-hop foundation workshops specifically with adult learners in mind, especially those who started dancing later, are coming back to dance, or never had the opportunity to really build their foundations in any training environment.
Just because you’re not trying to make a career out of dance doesn’t mean you don’t want to get GOOD at it. You can dance recreationally and still want to train, build technique, understand your body, and become the best dancer you can be. That’s the kind of space I want to create.
For this workshop, we focused on drilling our foundations and spent the last 10–15 minutes learning this choreography as a way to apply what we had been practicing. I was not looking for clean or perfect, just for them to keep that groove we were working on, in their movement as they danced.
And honestly, recording wasn’t even my idea (shockingly) and I wasn’t planning to! But it was requested, everyone knew it would be posted, and participating in the recording was completely voluntary. I’m glad we did it because I love seeing everyone put the work into practice.
More workshops to come! Until then, you can catch me Wednesdays at 6:45 PM for “Hip Hop, the Easy Way” at
