We say “take a cleansing breath” for a reason.

It’s not just about calming your mind (although that matters too). Every deep breath is actually helping your body do what it’s designed to do—clear things out and restore balance.

When you breathe deeply, you’re bringing fresh oxygen into your cells so they can function better, process waste, and keep things moving.

Your lungs are a big part of your detox system—working right alongside your liver, gut, kidneys, lymph, and skin.

Autoimmune healing isn’t just about what you eat.

It’s about whether your body feels safe.

When you’re dealing with:
• Overwhelming fatigue

• Hormone imbalances
• Fear of flare-ups

Your nervous system is often on high alert.

And here’s what happens next 👇

The body shifts into “fight or flight” (your sympathetic nervous system).

Then cortisol rises.

Cortisol isn’t the enemy. In fact, one of its jobs is to keep inflammation under control.

But when stress is constant — rushing, worrying, skipping meals, pushing through exhaustion — cortisol can become dysregulated.

For someone with autoimmune disease, that matters deeply.

Because immune system dysregulation + chronic inflammation = more symptoms, more flares, and more frustration.

If you’re living with autoimmune disease and feel wired, inflamed, exhausted, or on edge…

🔥 Your nervous system may be stuck in overdrive.

When your body is stuck in “fight or flight,” it has a harder time shifting into “rest and repair.”

And for someone with autoimmune disease, that repair mode is everything.

Your immune system and nervous system are deeply connected. When your nervous system feels unsafe, overwhelmed, or constantly pushed, your immune system can stay activated too.

That ongoing activation can contribute to flares, fatigue, and inflammation.

A dysregulated nervous system is not a diagnosis.
There’s no quick prescription for it.
