PMA’s advanced echelon cadets are on the way to join the rest of CACC as we spin up for Summer Encampment 2026. Over 800 cadets from all over California are expected at Camp San Louis Obispo from 18 to 28 June. Can’t wait to get it started. These 23 cadets will be part of the leadership team responsible for setting up this state level event.

We are proud to announce that Cadet Bryan Miranda has become the seventh Porterville Military Academy cadet to successfully solo an aircraft!

Bryan recently completed the Air Force ROTC Aim High Flight Academy at California Aeronautical University in Bakersfield. After three weeks of intensive academics, simulator training, and flight instruction, he earned the opportunity to fly solo in a Cessna 172.

Launching from Runway 30 at Minter Field in Shafter, Bryan safely completed his first solo flight and returned to the same runway—a milestone achievement that marks a significant step in every pilot's journey.

Congratulations, Bryan! Your hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence continue to set the standard for future PMA aviators. We look forward to watching your aviation journey continue to soar.

Our own Cadet Adrian Garibay recently returned from the prestigious United States Air Force Academy Summer Seminar, where he experienced firsthand what a world-class leadership and aviation program looks like. During his visit, he explored an impressive drone program, advanced VR and flight simulation technology, the Academy's cadet glider and powered flight training programs, an amazing aquatics facility, a challenging high-ropes course, and even learned about the cadet parachute program.

One detail caught his attention in particular: Air Force Academy cadets spend part of their spring break training at the Porterville Airport. Yes, you read that correctly—Porterville.

It's a reminder that there are incredible opportunities all around us. Sometimes, you have to look around to see them. Through hard work, dedication, and a willingness to pursue new experiences, our cadets can access programs and opportunities that connect our small community to some of the nation's most respected institutions.

Well done, Cadet Garibay, for representing our program and bringing back new ideas and inspiration for those who will follow in your footsteps.

It's the last day of school, so you'd think we'd be looking forward to all-nighters, movie marathons, and sleeping in. Not these cadets.

They jumped straight into the assessments to determine who will be eligible to participate in the first official 13th Brigade Cadet Drill Instructor Course.

Knowing how to drill is one thing; knowing how to teach and instruct drill is the next level. Drill Instructors are responsible for developing the discipline, confidence, and precision of future cadets. It takes more than performance—it takes leadership, communication, patience, and a commitment to excellence.

The forging process takes heat and pressure, and this course has an abundance of both. Through long days, high standards, and constant evaluation, these cadets will be challenged, tested, and refined into leaders capable of training the next generation.

We commend the cadets who stepped up to the challenge today. The next generation of Cadet Corps leaders is already hard at work.
