Students and families are invited to a Service Academy Information Night hosted by U.S. Congressman David G. Valadao at Porterville Military Academy!

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet representatives from the U.S. Naval Academy, West Point, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, and Fresno State ROTC and learn more about the opportunities and pathways available through each program.

This is a great opportunity for students considering military service, leadership, and higher education to ask questions and learn more about what it takes to pursue this path.

Academy of Health Science (PAHS) Pathway students spent part of their summer gaining hands-on experience through an internship at Kaweah Health in Visalia. Students had the opportunity to explore and work alongside professionals in numerous departments throughout the hospital, gaining valuable insight into the wide range of careers available in healthcare. The experience gave students a firsthand look at the skills, knowledge, and dedication needed to succeed in the healthcare field. Thank you, Kaweah Health, for the amazing opportunity!

🍎🏃‍♀️ Welcome back, teachers! Today, PUSD kicked off the new school year with our Back-to-School Breakfast, and our Health Science Pathway students were on site sharing tips with staff on ways to stay active, healthy, and well throughout the school year.

Earlier this summer, our Solar Camp students welcomed representatives from Electric Motor Shop in Visalia for a hands-on presentation. Students explored electrical concepts, learned about industry tools, and gained insight into careers in the electrical and industrial trades through real-world demonstrations.

Thank you to Electric Motor Shop for inspiring the next generation of innovators and skilled professionals!

Success isn't always about following a straight path—sometimes it's about having the courage to change directions.

Harmony Magnet Academy graduate Luke Silver ('19) started college pursuing architecture before discovering his true passion in mechanical engineering. That decision led to internships at Diablo Canyon Power Plant and, today, a role with Redwire Defense Technologies, where he's helping develop large-scale surveillance drones while completing his master's degree at Cal Poly.

Luke credits the mentors and opportunities he found through Pathways with giving him the confidence to take chances and embrace new opportunities.

His advice for today's students? "Follow what you enjoy and don't be afraid to take a shot. Most people won't—and sometimes, that's all it takes."

We're proud to celebrate Luke's journey and look forward to seeing all he'll accomplish in the years ahead.
